More on the Automotive Industry

Mitt Romney wrote an Op-Ed piece for the NY Times today that states that the government should just let the auto industry in Detroit fail. Kind of an interesting opinion from the same man who said he would bring jobs back to Michigan during the primaries.

I think it's pretty clear that the government shouldn't simply give the auto industry money just so they can stay afloat in the short term. The industry needs to find a way to be competitive, and a $50 billion cash infusion doesn't do that.

I agree with Romney that reform is needed--regardless of whether there is a bailout or not. But....preferably without.
