Johnny Damon is a Yankee

is now on the .

Remember when he made these comments?

"There's no way I can go play for the Yankees, but I know they're going to come after me hard. It's definitely not the most important thing to go out there for the top dollar, which the Yankees are going to offer me. It's not what I need."

So as a Yankee fan, are you happy about this or not?

Good question.

I think short-term at least this is a great move. Johnny Damon has one or two more years at least (barring injury) of decent play.

Long-term, I'm not sure what to think, since he'll be 36 at the end of his contract and earning $13 million. At that point, I believe that Jeter, A-Rod and maybe Matsui will be in their mid-30's earning similar amounts. So that seems like it could be a problem. But the new Yankee stadium should be ready around that time I suppose so perhaps there's more revenue to be had there.

It's a little hard to root for the guy as of today, December 22, 2005, but I'm sure by April 2006 I will be ready to roll. I will definitely watch him for the boo's he receives in Fenway!!
