LifeDrive
I've had an idea for something like the LifeDrive, and I suppose it was only a matter of time before it got made. When it starts playing video and music, it will totally catch on.

It does play video and music. This is why they added the hard drive. In fact, PDAs have been playing music and video for years now.
This is the standalone PDA's last gasp of life.
Standalone PDAs don't offer any advantage to the smartphones. Come to think of it the PSP can do music and video AND games. The Nintendo DS can be used as a PIM.
Check out Symbian OS. Mobile phones that have integrated PDA/PIM features are the future (like the Treo).
